Update: cod sequencing

The genome sequencing of the Atlantic cod populations is progressing very well, and we are now soon half way towards the goal of 1000 individuals. The selected populations represent various ecological and environmental adaptations, different life history strategies and historic samples. Sequencing is performed using the Illumina platform, and the average coverage is around 10x. Sequence assembly, variant calling and additional analyses have been performed on a subset of the genomes.  In short, our chosen strategy for cod sequencing is performing as planned. The coming months will be crucial for finalizing the Atlantic cod sequencing part of the Aqua Genome project.
